The most rare of Britains series of 'Racing Colours of Famous Owners'.

Released in limited number in 1938 this model bears the colours of Lavinia Duchess of Norfolk.

Owner, breeder, rider and trainer: Lavinia Duchess of Norfolk, the first Lady of the Garter, was one of the most knowledgable women in racing.

She was a keen hunter and point-to-point rider. Her colours were infamous as they were like those of Lord Derby (black , white cap) only with a cartoon of Mickey Mouse on the front and back..

Her choice of Mickey Mouse didn't go unnoticed as Disney wrote to her highlighting the fact that she had not received permission to reproduce an image of their most famous character, hence her colours were changed to pale blue with a blue and yellow quartered cap..

The model is not in pristine condition but given its age it is still an excellent collectors piece coming in its original box.

BOX:

The box has seen better days but still serves as a most suitable accompanyment to the model.
