Corgi Classics
Following the takeover of Corgi by Mattel in 1989 the Corgi brand name was changed to Corgi Classics and the company targeted the production of detailed diecast commercial vehicles. In 1995 the brand was taken over yet again and a new company formed 'Corgi Classics Ltd'. However, it was not to last and in 1999 it was subjected to a take over again, this time by Zindardt an American collectors company. Under the new ownership Corgi again became Britains number one model maker and in 2002 acquired the Lledo brand including the well received Vanguard range. The company continued to prosper until finally being acquired by Hornby in May 2008 for a sum in excess of £8m.
